This fall has brought both a great deal of success and sadness at the same time to ROYAL CHIE.
The show by ROYAL CHIE, October 12th, 2004, attracted many celebrities including Rebecca Weinberg, stylist for the world popular TV show, Sex and the City. The show was featured in many magazines such as Hamptons = left =. We felt certain that ROYAL CHIE had become a distinguished fashion brand among the upper society. In November, as fur became the key item for this season's fashion trend, ROYAL CHIE's Madison Avenue boutique has received countless inquiries from stylists about our collection.
Profits from the show was donated to The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (www.christopherreeve.org) = below right, Mr. Reeve with his wife, Dana =. As you all know, Mr. Reeve, the well known actor for his role as Superman, and activist for stem cell research, was paralyzed below his neck due to a horseback riding accident many years ago. The news of his death just a few days before ROYAL CHIE's show saddened Chie Imai, who has been serving as a board member for The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation for the past two years. His death made her realize how important it was to overcome sadness and, even more, how important it was to continue contributing to the community.
Unfortunately, right after the show, her father past away. He was a person who was full of charity spirit and had vision for the future, who put his soul in the welfare field. "If we succeed in business, we must return it to the society sometime, somewhere, somehow. My father was the one who taught me that", says Chie Imai.

On the eighteenth of November, The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation's charity event, The Magical Evening Gala, was held at The Marriot Marquise Hotel in Times Square, Manhattan, New York = left, photo of the event space =. Chie Imai, who was supposed to welcome more than 800 guests as a member of the board for the foundation was not there. She decided to attend the special memorial service for her father that was organized by the City of Kagoshima, their hometown, instead, as her father was an honored citizen of the city. Chie Imai could not decide until the last minute whether she should attend the memorial or remain in New York for the Gala. In her mind, she knew that her father would be happy for her to be a part of the significant charity event in New York. She however, chose to complete the role of eldest daughter in order to honor her father. For the Gala in New York, she appointed her daughter, Chiaki, to take her place. Chiaki has been her mother's right arm, taking responsibility of ROYAL CHIE's marketing and PR.

"I am very proud of the way my grandfather lived his life, and I respect him more than ever. I am also honored to represent my mother by attending the Gala in her place, as she has put her soul into her business and her charity work in order to carry on the great work her deceased father, my grandfather, did." said Chiaki. At the Gala, she escorted many VIP guests such as Ambassador Hiroyasu Ando, Consul General in New York, Mr. and Mrs. Rocky Aoki, founder of the restaurant chain Benihana Group, and a supermodel Maggie Rizer, a fan of ROYAL CHIE = above with Chiaki =, who arrived wearing a fox shawl with a matching black evening dress.
More than 800 guests attended this Gala. Its purpose was to raise money for stem cell research, as it is believed that stem cell could be the effective treatment for diseases such as Parkinson's and paralysis. The Gala's master of ceremony was the actor, Nathan Lane, who was in the original main cast in the hit Broadway show, The Producers with Matthew Broderick (husband of Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex and the City). Among the celebrity guests were actress Glenn Close, Laura Linney, and Minnie Driver = below, with actress Kim Cattrall, better known as Samantha in the Sex and the City =. Also, many corporate executives from IT and financial institutions as well as liberal politicians from the Senate, House and state government attended.
To carry on the work of Mr. Christopher Reeve who past away earlier, his wife, Dana is now serving as Chairperson for The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. With help of many celebrities and their presence, it will continue its effort to raise money and awareness for stem cell research and make stem cell treatment legal. ROYAL CHIE has contributed to the Foundation by donating not only profits of the fashion show but also the brand's hats, pouches, fur bracelets etc. to the Foundation's charity auctions.
November through the New Year's is the most glamorous season of the year with many parties and receptions throughout America. Fur is an important item for women to add a touch of glamour to their wardrobes. From shawls and shrugs (it's a shorter version of shawl just to cover shoulders) to long coats, it is impressive that ROYAL CHIE fans in New York know well how to use those fur items to enhance their fashion. In fact, ROYAL CHIE is getting young celebrity fans in their 20's and 30's more and more such as Maggie. Good news for those ROYAL CHIE fans; in December, we are going to have a cocktail party by inviting the most notable women in America's social circles.
