ROYAL CHIE has been showing its collection in New York since 1999. On October 12th, the brand’s second charity fashion show was held at New York’s prestigious hotel, St. Regis. Chie Imai showed her latest collection twice in the day; first at a luncheon and later at night for a cocktail reception. Both shows were dynamite, filled with society's elite from all over America. Many paparazzi were seen at the event and they all were amazed by all the excitement. It was a great experience for all of us.
More importantly, this event had a purpose. Chie Imai has been trying to return her success to the community ever since she introduced ROYAL CHIE to America. She believes that it is important for her to contribute to the community that gave her such success. Part of the profits from this event will be donated to The New York Botanical Gardens and The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. As you all know, The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation was founded by the actor Christopher Reeve, better known as Superman, who was paralyzed below his neck after a horseback riding accident many years ago. Unfortunately, Mr. Reeve past away two days before the show. “It was so sudden, and we were all shocked by the news,” says Chie Imai who has been serving as a board member for his foundation. “He is a symbol of hope for those who suffer from paralysis. His work to raise money and awareness for stem cell research to find a cure for paralysis will be carried on and I am proud to be a part of it.” |
Both shows took place on the rooftop of the St. Regis Hotel. The popular Newscaster, Felicia Fox, opened the luncheon show as Master of ceremonies and Rita Cosby did the same for the night show. Members from America’s prestigious families such as the Rockefellers, the Kennedys, and the Fairchilds were present at the show as well as entertainers, columnists and models = above left, (from left) the Sports caster Thea Andrew, Chie Imai, and model Maggie Rizer=. The fashion newspaper, WWD (Women’s Wear Daily) and many other fashion publications featured the show.
The show’s collaboration that was designed and styled by Rebecca Weinberg =below left, with Chie Imai= was much talked about. Ms. Weinberg is the stylist for the hit TV show, Sex and the City. She styled the special shopping booths at the show. There was a different theme for each booth and she designed each space according to its theme using various objects. It was a challenge for the veteran stylist, and it turned out to be a big success. Six shopping booths were set up along the runway; the booth “Vanity” = above right = and the booth “Oscar” = right = to show you a few. All six booths were stylishly done, spiced with her funkiness. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour at those booths after the show. |

Chie Imai and Rebecca Weinberg will team up again for new challenges in the future.
Fur is a must-have item for this fall-winter season. ROYAL CHIE has been featured in various fashion magazines such as Elle, the October issue of the American version and Gotham magazine. It has been two years since ROYAL CHIE opened its boutique on Madison Avenue, the Mecca of top luxury fashion brands. Chie Imai =bottom photo, with (from right) Ms. Francine LeFrak and Ms. Tara Rockefeller= is the only Japanese designer who shows at the New York Fur Collection. She introduced her latest collection “Chie Chic” at this charity show and its elegant taste combined with glamour was well received by the guests. Women wearing fur who stride on Manhattan streets as they show off their style will continue to inspire Chie Imai, and she will answer them. As for this show, we were sure that sexy and intelligent women in both in New York and Tokyo will enjoy “Chie Chic” Collection.
